European History Homework 11
Choose One of the following tasks and have it ready for next class
1. Be an artist: Draw a picture of the English Civil War, Versailles, Charles II, Louis XIV, or any scene involving one of the absolute monarchs. Keep in mind how they dressed and what the environment would have looked like. The picture will be graded on content not artistic skill. The more elements in the picture the better.
2. Be an investigator: Research the Versailles. How large is the palace? How much did it cost to build. What is interesting about the architecture and furnishings of Versailles? Photocopy or print off a picture French monarch's home. Create margins and detail with written descriptions of what the elements in the picture are.
3. Be a writer: Write a one page paper on Oliver Cromwell. What was he like? Did he really outlaw Christmas? Why? Don't focus as much on spelling, though you should try to answer as many who, what, when where, and whys as possible.
4. Be a builder: Build a model of the Versailles! Make the palace and gardens out of sticks, toothpicks, Popsicle sticks, glue, rope, wood, and or floral foam. Do a little research to see what battle would have looked like. Also keep in mind not to make it so big that it would be difficult to bring into class.
