Homework from Nov 14th
European History Homework 7
Choose One of the following tasks and have it ready for next class
1. Be an artist: Draw a picture of a Catholic Reformer. It could be a scene of Jesuit monks, Carmelites, Ursulines, or other orders. It could be of the Roman Inquisition or Pope Paul III. Keep in mind how they dressed and what the environment would have looked like. The picture will be graded on content not artistic skill. The more elements in the picture the better.
2. Be an investigator: Research monastery or convent daily life. Photocopy or print off a picture of a monastery or convent. Create margins and detail with written descriptions of what the elements in the picture are.
3. Be a writer: Write a one page paper on a famous Counter Reformation leader. This could include Thomas More, Erasmus, Gasparo Contarini, Pope Paul III, Ignatius, Theresa of Avila etc. Don't focus as much on spelling, though you should try to answer as many who, what, when where, and whys as possible.
4. Be a builder: Build a monastery. Make a monastery out of sticks, toothpicks, Popsicle sticks, glue, rope, wood, and or floral foam. Do a little research to see what some of the monasteries looked like. Also keep in mind not to make it so big that it would be difficult to bring into class.
5. Be a Bible scholar: Many Christians struggled through the Roman Inquisition. Write a page on Biblical characters who struggled through persecution and explain why God allows us to go through struggles. Don't focus as much on spelling, though try to be as informative as possible.
