European History Homework
Choose One of the following tasks and have it ready for next class
1. Be an artist: Draw a picture of a Reformer. It could be a scene of Martin Luther preaching, John Knox, John Calvin, or John Huss martyred for his faith. Keep in mind how the Leaders of the Reformation dressed and what the environment would have looked like. The picture will be graded on content not artistic skill. The more elements in the picture the better.
2. Be an investigator: Research daily life in the 1500-1600s. Photocopy or print off a picture of a home, city, Catholic or Protestant church. Create margins and detail with written descriptions of what the elements in the picture are.
3. Be a writer: Write a one page paper on a famous Reformation leader. This could include John Calvin, John Knox, Martin Luther, John Huss, Huldreich Zwingli, or Thomas Muentzer. Don't focus as much on spelling, though you should try to answer as many who, what, when where, and whys as possible.
4. Be a builder: Build a relic. A major complaint during the Reformation was that many of the relics were forged. Make a relic out of sticks, toothpicks, Popsicle sticks, glue, rope, wood, and or floral foam. Do a little research to see what some of the relics looked like. Also keep in mind not to make it so big that it would be difficult to bring into class.
5. Be a Bible scholar: One of the biggest complaints that John Huss had against the Catholic Church was; who was the head of the church, Jesus or the Pope? Was Peter the first Pope? Was Peter God's representative on Earth? Find verses that answer these three questions and state your own opinion.
