European History Homework
Choose One of the following tasks and have it ready for next week
1. Be an artist: Draw a picture of a scene from the Imperialist era. It could be a battle, ship, missionary, or political figure. Keep in mind how the soldiers, political leaders, or missionaries dressed and what the environment would have looked like. The picture will be graded on content not artistic skill. The more elements in the picture the better.
2. Be an investigator: Research Imperialist daily life. Photocopy or print off a picture of an explorer, trader, or colonist. It could be a picture of a South African village under British control or the Opium Wars in China. Create margins and detail with written descriptions of what the elements in the picture are.
3. Be a writer: Write a one page paper on a missionary from the Imperialists Era (1800-1900). It could be David Livingstone, Hudson Taylor, John Paton, etc. How did Imperialism influence the missionary movement? Don't focus as much on spelling, though you should try to answer as many who, what, when where, and whys as possible.
4. Be a builder: Create a three dimensional map of the world during Imperialism. Find a map that shows counties of the world from the late 1800s. Make a new map by cutting out continents from card board, paper, cloth, glue, rope, and or floral foam. Use different colors to indicate which counties are controlled by which western nations. The more details the better. Also keep in mind not to make it so big that it would be difficult to bring into class.
