European History Homework
The Cold War
Choose One of the following tasks and have it ready for next week
1. Be an artist: Draw a picture of a scene from the Cold War. It could be of the Berlin Wall, the Cuban Missile Crisis, or a political figure. Keep in mind how the soldiers, political leaders, or civilians dressed and what the environment would have looked like. The picture will be graded on content not artistic skill. The more elements in the picture the better.
2. Be an investigator: Research 1950s and 1960s European daily life. Photocopy or print off a picture of soldiers or civilians from USSR, England, France, Hungary, or Germany. It could be a picture of a suburban life, life behind the Iron Curtain, or the inner workings of the Kremlin. Create margins and detail with written descriptions of what the elements in the picture are.
3. Be a writer: Write a one page paper on the 1956 Hungarian Revolution. Why did they rebel? Who were the leaders? How did the world react? What was the outcome? Don't focus as much on spelling, though you should try to answer as many who, what, when where, and whys as possible.
4. Be a builder: Build a model of the Berlin Wall. Use any supplies you can think of to assemble this wall of separation. Try to keep the size manageable enough to bring to class easily.
5. Be a Bible Scholar: What happened to Christians in Eastern Europe's Satellite Counties? Did all of the Churches close? Was there any resistance from Christians? What the religious demographic today?
